Gold K-One
bioconjugates

Discover our premium-quality gold bioconjugates and redefine your standards.
Leveraging Kimialys’ proprietary surface chemistry, K-One, we develop, manufacture, and supply high-performance gold bioconjugates optimized to your biomolecules and applications. K-One provides full control over surface interactions and protects against non-specific binding, ensuring sensitive, reliable, and reproducible results, without trading one parameter off against another.
Our bioconjugates selectively capture target molecules to enable detection assays as well as extraction for enrichment or depletion workflows, supporting diagnostic and biopharma companies across a wide range of applications including bioanalysis, molecular diagnostics, immunogenicity testing, analytical characterization, and point-of-care testing.

We position ourselves as a strong alternative to conventional gold, magnetic, latex and luminescent nanoparticles for today’s most demanding assays.
For many use cases, conventional approaches perform perfectly well. But when targets are present at very low concentrations and require pushing for higher sensitivity, this often comes at the expense of reliability and reproducibility:

  • Unprotected surfaces → prone to NSB due to the absence of protective surface chemistry.
  • Steric hindrance → high ligand surface density restricts target accessibility and reduces binding efficiency.
  • Surface overloading → saturating surfaces with ligands is costly, poorly controlled, and introduces variability and background noise.

Benchmark of nanoparticles

Gold nanoparticles are widely employed as bioconjugates prepared by passive adsorption for LFA or colorimetric assays, valued for their ease of use and their strong optical response in the visible range.

Magnetic beads have long been the industry standard for targeted capture and extraction, thanks to their robustness and compatibility with automated platforms.

Latex beads are widely used in turbidimetry and nephelometry, valued for their ease of use and strong light-scattering properties. They are also available in multiple colors for straightforward multiplexing for LFA applications and in fluorescent variants that deliver higher sensitivity.

Luminescent nanoparticles, such as quantum dots (QDs) and up-conversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), are the latest generation of nanoparticles. They represent a high-investment technology, valued for their very high sensitivity and their narrow emission spectra that enable advanced multiplexing.

K-One gold nanoparticles are designed for challenging assays where targets are present at very low concentrations, where achieving high sensitivity without compromising on non-specific binding, background, or reproducibility is essential.
Ultimately, K-One lowers assay costs by reducing ligand consumption (up to 30× less), as controlled orientation and density avoid the need to saturate the surface.

Our working process

01

A Warm Welcome!

You’ll first connect with our sales team (Nicolas, Adrien or Cyril) to discuss your needs and project goals.

02

Technical Dive & Align

You’ll meet our technical team to dive deep into your application and challenges. Based on these discussions, we build a detailed work plan and list all required materials. It is important that we can work as close as we can from your application final conditions, therefore we will need your biomolecules (ligand(s), secondary antibody(ies), target(s), and medium (buffers or biological fluids).

Once we agree on scope, timing, and cost, we move straight to practical implementation.

03

Let’s Kick Things Off!

One week before work begins, we hold a comprehensive kick-off meeting where all details are finalized and final questions are answered. This is the moment to meet the person in charge of the project at Kimialys, who will be your contact throughout the entire project.

From there, you stay connected with our experimentalists at every step, keeping you fully informed on progress.
